Senior Product Security Engineer – Boeing Defense, Space & Security
Join Boeing’s Air Dominance (AD) Product Security Engineering (PSE) organization in the Air Dominance & Phantom Works portfolio to provide technical support for product cyber security and resiliency of embedded systems. The role resides in Berkeley, MO / Hazelwood, MO and supports programs such as F/A‑18 Super Hornet/Growlers, F‑15 Eagle, MQ‑25A Stingray, T‑7A Red Hawk, proprietary programs and Phantom Works efforts.
Responsibilities- Develop, implement, and sustain product security requirements throughout the lifecycle of avionics systems and subsystems.
- Coordinate with partners and system‑of‑systems product security counterparts on requirements, activities, artifacts, and solutions.
- Collaborate with systems, software, and hardware engineers to advise on security analysis results and develop secure architectures and designs.
- Lead the establishment of standards and processes for product security engineering for embedded avionics development, ensuring program/certification compliance.
- Use risk‑engineering digital thread to inform product requirements addressing cyber survivability against specified threats through criticality, adversity, and threat analyses.
- Lead risk reduction and technology maturation activities to deliver innovative product and service solutions.
- Implement security controls per JSIG, DoD RMF, ICD‑503, NISPOM, and related DoD against‑print requirements.
- Provide inputs for planning, scheduling, risk, issues, and opportunity activities for cyber security.
- Build and lead cross‑functional teams, motivating and engaging team members through daily interactions.
- Up to 10% travel required.
- Position is 100% onsite at the designated location.
- Senior (Level
4) – Advanced technical education in engineering, computer science, data science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry (Bachelor's or equivalent) plus nine or more years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. - Experience developing avionics computer systems.
- Experience performing security risk assessments and risk management for networked operational technology.
- Experience in embedded software architecture, agile development, software development life cycle, and security tooling in development pipelines.
- Demonstrated ability to identify new opportunities, engage stakeholders, define, plan, resource, and deliver solutions.
- Experience developing cybersecurity philosophies, patterns, requirements, secure architecture, and design concepts.
- Experience presenting technical content to diverse audiences and preparing technical documentation.
- Autonomous work capability.
- Knowledge of cyber security incident response protocols and safeguarding information practices.
- Experience in product cyber security for avionics systems and component‑level development.
- Experience performing adversity (threat) analysis, security risk assessments, and maturing the analysis throughout development to inform requirements and design.
- Experience generating product cybersecurity artifacts for customers and certifiers.
- Security certifications such as CISSP (preferred). If listed on the resume, mention inclusion.
- Applied knowledge of airworthiness processes and methods for avionics systems (e.g., DO‑326A, DO‑356A).
- Applied knowledge of safety‑critical system development processes (e.g., DO‑178C, DO‑254).
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret clearance (interim and/or final post‑start).
- Must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements (U.S. Person as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.62).
- Position requires U.S. citizenship.
Competitive base pay ranging from $162,350 – $219,650 for Senior‑Level – Level 4, with additional variable compensation opportunities. Pay is based on experience, qualifications, market, and business considerations.
