Mold Technician - Build​/Repair

Position Overview

This position is responsible for building new fiberglass tooling masters and production tooling, implementing changes to existing tooling, and maintaining and repairing molds. It is a full‑time role with hourly pay of $16.00 per hour and benefits.

Chopper gun, gel coat spray gun, various air‑powered grinders, manual and power sanders, Dremel tools, buffers, powered fiberglass saws, laser aligners, paint brushes and rollers, woodshop power tools, general fiberglass manufacturing materials, and personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields, Tyvek suits, air‑purifying respirator, dust mask, boot covers, and aprons (when applicable).

• Use accepted methods to build new masters, mock‑ups, molds, and specialized splashes.
• Reshape and alter the dimensions of existing tooling masters and molds, using precise measuring equipment such as laser aligners and bubble levels.
• Inspect molds for areas that need maintenance or repair.
• Select the proper methods to complete work such as grinding, dremeling, sanding, glassing, spraying, resurfacing, reshaping, or reinforcing.
• Wash and wax molds to prepare them for production.
• Keep the work area safe, clean, and hazard‑free.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Moderate lifting and carrying (21–59 lbs). Occasional heavy lifting over 60 lbs. Requires both legs and hands. Repeated bending, kneeling, standing. Requires depth perception and color discrimination. Must walk, reach over shoulder, use fingers, pull, push, and coordinate simultaneously. Must be able to hear (hearing aid permitted).

Environment: inside and outside. Exposure to solvents, degreasing agents, fumes, smoke, gases, dust, constant noise, vibration, explosives, radiant energy, and uneven walking surfaces. Must work around moving objects, work with others, or work alone. May involve working with hands in water.
