Congregation B’nai Amoona is seeking a relationship-driven, motivated, and organized fundraising professional to serve as our next Development & Membership Manager.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building relationships, strengthening community, engaging donors, supporting volunteer leaders, and helping people make meaningful philanthropic commitments. The Development & Membership Manager will play a key role in growing B’nai Amoona’s culture of giving by identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors as well as onboarding prospective members into our congregation.

The primary focus is fundraising, membership, and relationship development. The right candidate will be comfortable meeting with people, asking for support, following up with donors, managing fundraising details, and working closely with staff and volunteer committees to move development and membership efforts forward.

The person in this role will combine strong interpersonal skills, fundraising instincts, excellent follow-through, and comfort with systems and details.

Primary Responsibilities Fundraising and Donor Engagement
  • Build and maintain relationships with donors, members, prospective donors, and community supporters
  • Support and help grow annual giving, Benefactor giving, campaign efforts, sponsor ships, and other fundraising initiatives
  • Participate in donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities, including helping prepare for and participate in donor meetings
  • Make appropriate fundraising asks and follow-up requests in coordination with the Executive Director and volunteer leadership
  • Help identify opportunities to increase giving among current donors and engage new supporters
  • Manage donor stewardship, including thank-you calls, acknowledgment letters, impact updates, recognition opportunities, and ongoing follow-up
  • Support fundraising events, parlor gatherings, donor meetings, and other relationship-building opportunities
Volunteer and Committee Support
  • Staff and support volunteer fundraising committees, including preparing agendas, tracking follow-up items, and helping committee members stay engaged and accountable
  • Work with lay leaders to support donor outreach, sponsorship efforts, campaign follow-up, and community engagement
  • Help organize volunteers around fundraising and membership priorities
  • Maintain clear communication with committee members and volunteer leaders to ensure progress on fundraising goals
Membership and Community Engagement
  • Help guide prospective and new members through the membership and onboarding process
  • Support membership renewal efforts and related member follow-up
  • Serve as a warm and responsive contact for membership-related questions, account questions, membership status, and related matters
  • Help create a welcoming experience for members, prospective members, donors, and volunteers
  • Support targeted communications tied to fundraising, membership, stewardship, and engagement
Systems, Records, and Follow-Through
  • Maintain accurate donor, membership, pledge, gift, and contact records in Shul Cloud
  • Run reports to support donor outreach, renewals, fundraising follow-up, committee work, and stewardship
  • Help improve forms, workflows, reports, and systems related to giving and membership
  • Ensure confidential donor and member information is handled with discretion and professionalism
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in fundraising, donor relations, nonprofit development, membership engagement, sales, community relations, or nonprofit advancement
  • Demonstrated comfort building relationships and asking for financial support
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to engage warmly and professionally with donors, members, volunteers, staff, and community partners
  • Excellent follow-through and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and keep fundraising activity moving forward
  • Experience supporting volunteers, committees, events, or campaigns preferred
  • Comfort working with databases or CRM platforms; experience with Shul Cloud is helpful but not required
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Familiarity with Jewish communal life is helpful
Work Schedule

This is primarily a weekday position, with occasional evening, weekend, and Jewish holiday responsibilities based on congregational needs. This may include donor meetings, fundraising events, committee meetings, congregational programs, and scheduled Shabbat morning service coverage approximately 1 to 2 times per month.
