Software Engineers–Developers; Associate, Experienced or Senior

Overview

Boeing is seeking Software Engineers–Developers to join the Open Architecture Systems Integrated Software Solutions team in Berkeley, Missouri. The role supports the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Software Engineering organization and focuses on a DoD consortium standards effort that develops platform-agnostic, software-defined architectures for advanced weapon systems. The team emphasizes rapid prototyping, modularity, and alignment with DoD standards to enable integration across multi-domain platforms.

The successful candidate will contribute to architecture definition, software development, and compliance testing of Government Reference Architectures (GRAs) and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver mission-agnostic solutions.

Our teams are hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Associate, Experienced and Senior Level Software Engineers.

• Supporting the design, development, and delivery of Starter Kits (SKs) that include software, models, and documentation for adopting programs
• Ensuring compliance with ASE standards and implementing automated compliance tests
• Participating in integration efforts to align and rationalize architectures across the consortium
• Contributing to Modeling and Simulation (MODSIM) activities to validate architecture performance in mission-representative environments
• Collaborating with industry partners to drive innovation and avoid vendor lock-in through open standards and best practices
• Developing, documenting and maintaining architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software products
• Implementing current and emerging technologies, tools, frameworks and changes in regulations relevant to software development
• Developing, establishing, monitoring and improving software processes, tools and key performance metrics that align projects with organizational goals and industry benchmarks
• Executing and documenting software research and development projects
• Advising on software domains, system-specific issues, processes and regulations
• Tracking and evaluating software team and supplier performance to ensure product and process compliance with project plans and industry standards
• Reviewing, analyzing, and translating customer requirements into initial design of software products
• Developing, maintaining, enhancing and optimizing software products and functionalities for systems integrations

• Experience in software architecture and implementation
• 1+ years of experience in software design
• 1+ years of experience in requirements analysis

• Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited program in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
• Level 3: 3+ years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Level 4: 5+ years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• 3 years’ experience working with industry and military specifications and standards requirements and processes
• Active Secret Clearance
• Knowledge of specification format requirements, guidelines, and change control processes
• Knowledge of how to derive and allocate requirements and show traceability throughout the product lifecycle
• Knowledge of software architecture and design methodologies
• Knowledge of software development processes in compliance with internal and industry standards, guidelines, and best practices
• Knowledge of implementation, validation, and verification processes to ensure software development quality, performance, and safety
• Knowledge of general software development and testing tools and their usage
