Quality Manager - Software Quality Engineering

Position Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and manage a team of Software Quality Engineers supporting multiple BDS programs; own hiring, performance development, and career progression.
• Translate program technical and contractual requirements into SQE priorities and deliverables; align SQE execution with program schedules and budgets.
• Define and implement SQE processes, checklists, and metrics to verify software compliance, reliability, and safety on assigned programs.
• Provide approval and oversight of technical approaches, software verification strategies, and software quality artifacts.
• Coordinate supplier SQE activities; provide technical direction and assess supplier deliverables for quality and conformance.
• Identify and drive continuous process improvements (root‑cause analysis, lessons learned, defect reduction).
• Maintain productive relationships with customers, stakeholders, program managers, and cross‑functional teams; escalate and resolve elevated SQE issues.

• At least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, manager, project/program manager) or completion of the Boeing internal course “Exploring Leadership.”
• Bachelor of Science or equivalent in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience supporting software development programs, including hands‑on software verification, reviews, or testing.
• 1+ year of experience supporting software quality engineering with AS9115 and/or DO‑178 requirements.
• 1+ year of experience working with program leadership to prioritize and resolve technical quality issues.

• Active U.S. security clearance.
• Experience with safety‑critical development standards (e.g., DO‑178B/C).
• Practical experience with Agile software development and CI/CD pipelines.
• Background in Software Quality Engineering practices (test strategy, test automation, static analysis, code reviews).
• Familiarity with Dev Sec Ops  tooling and secure software development lifecycle (SAST/DAST, automated builds, artifact management).
• Experience coordinating supplier quality assurance for embedded or avionics software.

Location:

On‑site in St. Louis region; may be located at Berkeley, MO or Hazelwood, MO.

Travel: up to 10%.

Shift: 1st shift.

Security Clearance: US citizen required; interim or final U.S. Secret Clearance to be obtained after hiring.

Relocation: available based on candidate eligibility.
