Assistant Controller

Up to $130k (DOE)
We are partnering with a growing financial services organization to identify an Assistant Controller to join its accounting leadership team. This is a highly visible role offering the opportunity to work across multiple complex business lines while becoming a key resource for accounting, systems, data analysis, and operational decision-making.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, learning sophisticated ERP systems, partnering with operations, and making a meaningful impact beyond traditional accounting responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities- Provide leadership, mentorship, and support to an accounting team of approximately eight professionals
- Support month‑end and year‑end close, financial reporting, and account reconciliations
- Develop expertise in the company’s ERP system and operational accounting processes
- Analyze large financial and operational data sets to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities
- Troubleshoot complex accounting and system‑related issues
- Partner with leadership to improve reporting, data integrity, and operational processes
- Support inventory, operational, contract, lease, and franchise‑related accounting activities
- Drive process improvements, workflow efficiencies, and stronger internal controls
- Participate in cross‑functional projects and strategic business initiatives
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Experience supervising, mentoring, or leading accounting staff
- Strong understanding of general ledger, AP, AR, reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Advanced Excel and data analysis skills
- Experience working with ERP systems and complex accounting environments
- CPA preferred but not required
- Backgrounds in financial services, distribution, inventory‑intensive businesses, retail, wholesale, real estate, transportation, or operational accounting are highly valued
- Naturally curious with a passion for solving complex business problems
