Job Summary:
The building substitute para educator serves as building substitute in the absence of a classroom teacher; provides support to classroom teachers and office staff when not substituting; performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree required; CT Teaching Certification preferred. Knowledge of general concepts of child growth, development, and instruction; flexibility to adapt to varying school settings, schedules and classrooms; ability to work well with staff and students. Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle detailed work. Familiarity with computerized systems. Must possess a flexible nature, strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills, and have the ability to work effectively with diverse groups, including students and adults.

Terms of Employment:
This position will begin at the start of the  school year. Hourly rate and benefits in accordance with the negotiated agreement between the Berlin Board of Education and Local  of Council 4 AFSCME, AFL-CIO. Hourly rate for the  school year is $25.52.
