Faith - Learning – Service

Saint Paul Catholic School in Kensington, a Pre‑K3 through 8th grade school is seeking a Third Grade Teacher for the  school year. The successful candidate must be a certified elementary education teacher, be a collaborator and team player with our talented team of teachers, follow the Catholic mission of the school, and have a thorough knowledge of the academic and social‑emotional needs of Third Grade students.

Candidates must be Catholic, as the teacher will be teaching 3rd Grade Religion during the students' year of Sacramental preparation. We are a school of 265 students and growing. Candidates

will be expected to :

Incorporate Catholic values and Gospel teachings across all subject areas, not just during Religion class.

Lead daily classroom prayer, prepare students for school‑wide liturgies, and accompany the class to Mass.

Exemplify Christian living in and out of the classroom, fostering a "Christ‑centered" environment.

Teach core subjects (Reading, Writing, Math, Science, Social Studies) following the AOH Office of Catholic Schools (OCS) curriculum standards.

Modify teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse needs of students, including those with IEPs or 504 plans.

Develop engaging, structured lesson plans that utilize various instructional materials and educational technology (e.g., Google Classroom, SMART boards).

Create a safe, disciplined, and "loving" learning environment that promotes student responsibility and self‑esteem.

Establish clear expectations for student conduct in alignment with Archdiocesan policies.

Maintain a visually stimulating and organized classroom that maximizes instructional time.

Conduct regular formative and summative assessments; maintain accurate records of grades, attendance, and student achievement.

Maintain open, professional communication with families through conferences, emails, and progress reports.

Participate in faculty meetings, grade‑level planning, and school‑wide committees.

Requirements

Educational Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s in education or a related field is preferred.

Current Connecticut Certification.

Experience in Catholic Schools is desirable.

A strong understanding of first graders’ developmental stages.

Demonstrated ability to create engaging, age‑appropriate lessons.

Practicing member of a faith community in good standing with the Parish.

Able to work with school technology (Google Classroom, SMART Boards).

Effective communicator, both oral and written, who is a well‑organized professional with great attention to details.
