Role and Scope of PositionThe Senior Engineer will work with complex systems and equipment, providing engineering and technical services to support our growing organization. This role involves designing new substations and infrastructure, analyzing systems and service disruptions, working with transformers, engineering electrical protection and control circuits, and handling acceptance testing and failure analysis. The position requires on‑site field work and office collaboration.
Engineering Domains- Telecommunications – responsible for fiber optic network design, engineering and execution of projects, generating detailed designs, installations, configurations, and commissioning of fiber optic equipment.
- Distribution Engineering – strategic development, expansion, planning, design, maintenance, and operation of the system and its equipment, modernizing operations, and integrating renewable energy resources while preventing and resolving system failures.
- Substation Engineering – substation design, maintenance, and support, optimizing cost and performance of substation equipment on the transmission and distribution system.
- Provides engineering/technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis, and resolution of problems of increasing scope and complexity, both inside and outside typical responsibility.
- Ensures accomplishment of business goals through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, and monitoring of work activities.
- Prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and sketches related to complex problems and their analysis.
- Conducts engineering and related studies; completes non‑routine projects with minimal oversight, manages project schedules and interfaces independently.
- Develops positive working relationships to coordinate work activities.
- Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills.
- Maintains accurate records and files.
- Supports the company’s goals and represents the company positively and professionally.
- Knowledge of utility power systems is preferred.
- Ability to independently develop, present and execute new projects through collaboration with other departments.
- Familiarity with power‑related software is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
- Five to eight years of related experience required; engineering design experience preferred.
- No licenses or certifications required.
- Must be available for emergency restoration assignments as required.
- Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
- Position may require occasional to significant travel by car; a valid driver’s license is required.
