SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Reporting to the Applications Manager, this role will oversee key production deliverables such as manufacturing planning, capacity planning, COGS estimation, process validations, capital equipment specifications, procurement, and production line setup. The position also involves coordinating new product launches. TOMZ specializes in high-precision metal machining, finishing, assembly, and anodize processes for medical devices.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Potential direct-reporting responsibilities for site engineering personnel, depending on organizational structure.
- Develop and perform installation, operational, and process qualifications for customer manufacturing processes in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Program various CNC equipment across multiple sites to support high-value projects, including milling, turning, grinding, multi-spindle, multi-axis, and Swiss-style machining for medical implants and instruments.
- Analyze drawings, models, and sketches to determine dimensions, cutting tools, machine speeds, and feed rates according to shop processes and customer specifications.
- Participate in process development projects and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) efforts with internal and external teams.
- Revise and update CNC programs to eliminate errors, incorporate new technologies, and improve efficiency to meet delivery deadlines.
- Coordinate with Quality Engineering to develop Process Control Plans, Manufacturing Inspection Plans, and gaging/fixturing requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, or related field; advanced degrees preferred.
- At least 7 years of experience in a regulated industry, preferably medical device or aerospace manufacturing.
- Project management experience, including planning, development, and execution.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and GD&T specifications.
- Knowledge of manufacturing technologies and methods, quality standards, and compliance requirements.
- Extensive experience transferring multidisciplinary products from development to production.
- Experience in tooling identification and setting appropriate operating conditions.
