POSITION TITLE:
Vice President - Business Development Officer
ACCOUNTABILITY:
Executive Vice President, Chief lending Officer
Scope of Responsibility :
Responsible for developing and maintaining business customer relationships. Manages assigned loan portfolio in conformity with Bank and regulatory policies and procedures to maximize profitability while minimizing credit losses. Cross-sells all Bank products and services while providing superior customer service.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Generate predetermined commercial loan and deposit production goals by expanding existing customer wallet share and attracting new customers to the Bank.
- Responsible for individual loan production, quality, profitability, portfolio management, and compliance.
- Develops new business by calling on and developing relationships with existing customers, centers of influence, and prospective customers.
- Interviews applicants and collects and interprets financial and related data to determine the general creditworthiness of prospective borrowers and the merits of specific loan requests. Determines which credit products best meet the customer's needs and financial circumstances.
- Negotiates provisions, interest rates/fees, and structure of loans, including SBA and other public financing programs.
- Develops materials for credit analysis, assists analyst with evaluation of loan requests, and prepares written submissions for consideration by the Bank’s Loan Committees.
- Approves loans within established authority or presents credit requests to the Officers Loan Committee (and Board Loan Committee when required) for approval.
- Ensures loan transactions are appropriately documented and closed under approved terms and conditions.
- Obtains credit information from customers while continuously monitoring the portfolio to identify and react to any deterioration in credit quality.
- Markets business banking products to existing and prospective customers.
- Ensures that all lending activities comply with Bank and Regulatory standards.
- Stays current on changes in lending standards, industry practices, and legal/compliance requirements.
- Assists Credit Operations personnel with obtaining required documentation.
- Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective communication, coordination, and professional business relations with related trade professionals.
- Maintains and protects the Bank's professional reputation while participating in appropriate community affairs.
- Actively participate in community service activities and volunteer to promote our mission, generate visibility, and serve our local community;
- Maintaining proper Risk Ratings on accounts at all times.
- Identifies and resolves any credit problems or potential problems with loan customers promptly and assists the Asset Recovery collector in contacting any delinquent accounts.
- Collecting financials and updating CLA portfolio on time;
- Participating in required compliance training and ensuring compliance with all regulations that apply within the scope of the position. Supervisors have day-to-day oversight responsibility for ensuring compliance with regulatory laws as they relate to functions within their departments;
- Maintains comprehensive knowledge of bank policies and procedures, including BSA training;
- Maintaining willingness to adapt to changing policies or needs within the bank to meet deadlines;
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Contacts & Relationships:
The individual in this position will work closely with bank customers, credit and loan department personnel, and the Chief Lending Officer.
Knowledge,
Skills & Experience:
- Minimum of 3
-5 years of banking industry experience; - Proficient in commercial loan structure and global analysis;
- Thorough understanding of financial statement analysis and credit underwriting;
- Knowledge of State & Federal banking/lending regulations;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly motivated and well organized
- Effective listener with ability to gather strategic information
- Excellent at relationship building and networking.
- Embraces team concept with ability to collaborate and work with others internally and externally with a client service focus.
