The Purchasing Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Berlin, Connecticut. This role is responsible for managing the procurement team, and ensuring materials, components, and services to support aerospace and industrial manufacturing operations arrive on time,
-to-day tasks include managing employees, negotiating with suppliers, issuing purchase orders, monitoring inventory levels, and ensuring on-time delivery in line with production schedules and customer requirements. The Purchasing Manager collaborates closely with operations, engineering, and quality teams to align purchasing activities with program plans, cost targets, and quality standards. The role also involves evaluating supplier performance, identifying cost‑saving opportunities, and continuously improving purchasing processes and tools.
- Demonstrated skills in purchasing, procurement, and supplier management within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Experience with contract negotiation, cost analysis, and vendor relationship building aimed at achieving best value and reliable delivery.
- Ability to coordinate purchasing activities with production planning, inventory control, and logistics to support schedule and lead-time goals.
- Familiarity with quality standards and compliance frameworks, such as ISO 9001 and AS9100, and working within structured program or project management processes.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills, including proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (Epicor preferred) and common office software.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work cross‑functionally with operations, engineering, finance, and customer‑facing teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business, engineering, or a related field.
- Experience in aerospace, industrial manufacturing, or a similar regulated industry is highly beneficial.
