Position: CMM/Inspection Team Lead — High‑Precision Medical Components

At TOMZ, we build high-precision metal components and assemblies for medical devices, including anodized parts. We’re looking for a CMM/Inspection Team Lead who can blend hands-on metrology with documentation rigor and team leadership under ISO  this role, you will Guide the daily rhythm of Quality Control: prioritize tasks, balance inspector workloads, set clear expectations, and mentor the team.

Provide constructive input for performance reviews.

Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections using visual/layout methods and instruments such as microscopes, calipers, micrometers, indicators, and height/pin gages.

Run more advanced checks on comparators, vision systems, contracers, and perform basic CMM operations; assist with creating simple programs for complex/automated inspections.

Author, complete, and compile inspection records to ISO 13485; uphold material control, identification, and end-to-end traceability.

Ensure Good Documentation Practices are followed on routers, inspection plans, and DHRs; verify DHRs conform to the DMR.Capture results and maintain traceability within ERP/QMS; support physical and digital record retention.

Identify nonconformances, coordinate follow-up actions, and move items to MRB when needed; supervise and train others on sorting and inspection activities.

Conduct process audits to confirm procedures/standard work; evaluate SPC, precontrol, tool-life, and key process parameters; teach teammates how to sustain these controls.

Perform First Piece and First Article Inspections for new and revised parts.

Flex across multiple production lines and departments with a proactive, safety-first mindset; comply with all PPE requirements.

Contribute to continuous improvement aligned with GDP/GMP and Quality Best Practices; adhere to the TOMZ QMS and take on other duties as assigned.

What you’ll need to succeed

Ability to interpret prints, specifications, and procedures accurately; unwavering attention to detail with timely task completion.

Working knowledge of dimensional, visual, and mechanical inspection practices.

Microsoft Office skills; clear English communication (written and verbal).Comfort operating independently and as part of a team in a regulated setting.

Strong math fundamentals and mastery of precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, height/pin gages, etc.).Background in Class I, II, and/or III medical device manufacturing; experience in other regulated industries (aerospace, defense, pharmaceutical) is a plus.

Education High school diploma or GED, or equivalent directly transferable experience;
Manufacturing/Engineering exposure preferred.

Experience Minimum 5 years in regulated manufacturing, or equivalent education/experience.

Preferred credentials

ASQ certifications such as CQT or QCI.Working familiarity with GMP/ISO frameworks.

Physical demands

Ability to bend, stoop, squat, kneel, and lift up to 50 lbs (use team or mechanical assist above 50 lbs).Visual acuity of 20/20 with or without correction for sorting raw/nonconforming materials; fine dexterity for handling small-to-medium parts.

Exposure to oils, grease, industrial noise, solvents, dust, metal particles, sparks, coolants, and sharp edges; PPE (safety glasses, dust masks, ear plugs, cut/chemical-resistant gloves) and engineering controls may be required.

Extended periods of standing or sitting; frequent typing and computer use.
