Heavy Equipment Shop Service Technician

Overview

Alta Equipment Company is seeking a Heavy Equipment Shop Service Technician. This role reports out of our Berlin, CT branch. Technicians repair diesel, agricultural, and heavy equipment, and are essential to our organization. We provide tools and resources for success, including training and competitive compensation.

• Complete inspections
• Removal and installation of parts
• Implementation of optional accessories
• Maintenance
• Basic diagnosis and troubleshooting
• Testing
• Performs other duties as assigned

Additional expectations include consistent attendance and readiness for work at the designated start time. The position may evolve toward a Field Technician role based on experience.

• Three years of previous heavy equipment repair experience
• Excellent mechanical aptitude with understanding of engines, power trains, hydraulics, and electrical systems
• Possess own tools
• Positive attitude and high energy
• Clean driving record
• Experience may lead to field service opportunities
• Computer proficiency:

  Ability to read and interpret safety rules and manuals; ability to write routine reports; ability to speak before groups

• Reasoning Ability:

• Regularly stand, walk, use hands, reach; occasionally sit; may climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
• Lift up to 25 lbs frequently; 26–50 lbs regularly; 51–100+ lbs occasionally
• Work near moving mechanical parts; exposure to fumes or airborne particles; outdoor conditions; occasional wet or humid conditions; potential electrical hazards and vibration
