Position:
Heavy Equipment Shop Service Technician – Berlin, CT

Alta Equipment Company seeks a skilled technician to perform heavy equipment repair and maintenance responsibilities at our Berlin, CT branch.

• Complete inspections
• Removal and installation of parts
• Implementation of optional accessories
• Maintenance
• Basic diagnosis and troubleshooting
• Testing
• General repairs
• Performs other duties as assigned
• Consistent, regular, and reliable attendance including being ready for work at the designated start time

• Three years of previous heavy equipment repair experience is required
• Excellent mechanical aptitude with a solid understanding of engine, power train, hydraulics, and electrical systems
• Possess own tools
• A positive attitude and high energy
• Must have a clean driving record
• Position may evolve into a Field Technician role depending on experience
• Computer skills:
  Microsoft Outlook
• Language skills – Intermediate:
  Ability to read, interpret, and write documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
• Mathematical skills – Basic:
  Ability to perform arithmetic with numbers ranging from two digits to multiples of 10 and 100, using units of U.S. money, weight measurement, volume, and distance.
• Reasoning ability – Intermediate:
  Ability to apply common sense in following written, oral, or diagram instructions; handle problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

• Physical/Sensory Functions:
  Regularly stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands; frequently talk/hear, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; occasionally sit.
• Lift and/or Move Functions:
  Regularly lift up to 25 pounds; frequently lift 26 to 50 pounds; occasionally lift 51 to 100+ pounds.
• Work Environment:
  Regularly work near moving mechanical parts; frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions; occasionally work in wet or humid conditions; risk of electrical shock and vibration.
