Job DescriptionA school district serving students across middle and high school grade levels is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to support a small group of students in a self-contained middle school classroom. The ideal candidate will have experience working with students in grades 6–8, strong classroom management skills, and a commitment to providing individualized academic and behavioral support in a collaborative school environment.
Whatyou will be doing:
- Provide specialized instruction in a self-contained classroom for students in grades 6–8.
- Develop and implement individualized instruction based on student needs and educational goals.
- Support students academically, behaviorally, and socially throughout the school day.
- Collaborate with school staff, related service providers, and families to support student success.
- Monitor student progress and maintain appropriate educational documentation.
- Participate in meetings and contribute to the development and implementation of individualized education plans.
- Create a structured, supportive, and engaging classroom environment.
- Provide individualized attention to a small caseload of approximately 5–6 students.
- Appropriate Massachusetts Special Education teaching certification/licensure.
- Experience working with students in a self-contained special education setting.
- Experience supporting middle school students, ideally grades 6–8.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary school team.
- Commitment to working fully in person
