ABOUT THE ROLE

The Secretariat of Transparency International (TI) is looking for an outstanding individual to perform the role of Policy and Advocacy Coordinator, Political Integrity (m/f/d) and contribute towards TI’s strategic priority of securing integrity of politics, with a particular focus on the integrity of political finance. Work under this priority consists of strengthening the resilience of integrity systems against abuse by high-level and elected officials as well as undue influence over them by corrupt interests, including through stronger anti-corruption measures in political funding and public decision-making, and by supporting accountability for infringements.

Policy and Advocacy Coordinator, Political Integrity (m/f/d) will join the Policy and Advocacy Team which leads on the organisation’s advocacy initiatives through the development of policy and advocacy positions, representation of TI at international fora and towards key stakeholders, and cooperation with TI national chapters on shared global thematic priorities based on TI Standards for integrity in political finance: A global policy position.

The role will support the Policy and Advocacy Team to advance the adoption and implementation of international commitments and obligations on the integrity of political finance, including Resolution 11/7 adopted by the Conference of States Parties to the UN Convention Against Corruption. Moreover, the incumbent will coordinate and cooperate with TI national chapters, in particular from Asia-Pacific, Africa and Latin America, that advocate for stronger monitoring and enforcement of political finance frameworks so that voters can hold their elected officials accountable for their funding.

Role purpose: the Policy and Advocacy Coordinator, Political Integrity advances integrity in political finance through promoting the adoption and implementation of global and regional standards, commitments and obligations.

Team: Policy and Advocacy.

Reporting line: Head of Policy and Advocacy.

Band: According to TI-S internal salary structure; this position is aligned with band PF2, with a salary range of EUR  gross per year. Final salary placement will be determined based on the number of years of relevant professional experience.

Starting Date: as soon as possible.

Contract Duration: Currently we can offer an employment contract limited for a duration of 24 months.

Working Hours: full time [100%; 40 hours per week]

Location: Transparency International Secretariat (TI-S), Berlin - with possibility of international travel.

• Contribute to and coordinate high-impact policy and advocacy activities, from the design and development of advocacy plans, through their implementation, delivery and monitoring, in close coordination with relevant colleagues in the Policy and Advocacy team as well as regional advisers from the Global Movement team, where appropriate;

• Stay abreast of developments relating to the integrity of political finance, and identify and/or create opportunities for advocacy actions to influence governments, intergovernmental bodies, and other relevant stakeholders;

• Build and strengthen relationships and establish alliances with external counterparts, coalitions and communities of practice and other stakeholders at global and regional level, while ensuring coordination with the Secretariat’s Global Movement team and other relevant colleagues in the Policy and Advocacy team;

• In coordination with the Secretariat’s Research and Knowledge Team, identify emerging areas for policy work and coordinate a strategic response from TI-S and national chapters, while being responsive to internal and external stakeholder needs;
