Job ResponsibilitiesAs a Painter / Loader, you will play a key role in preparing, coating, and loading structural steel and fabricated materials while maintaining the highest quality and safety standards.
Responsibilities include:
- Prepare and properly mix paints and solvents according to manufacturer specifications.
- Prepare and paint materials to meet SSPC specifications and project requirements.
- Mask and protect designated no-paint areas.
- Ensure proper cure times between coats.
- Monitor and record environmental conditions, including temperature, humidity, and dew point.
- Maintain detailed paint application records, including mix times, activation times, and application times.
- Perform quality inspections of completed work and address any discrepancies.
- Organize and coordinate outgoing shipments with the Shipping Coordinator.
- Load and stack materials safely onto trailers and flatbeds.
- Maintain paint inventory and supplies.
- Keep work areas, paint equipment, and storage areas clean, organized, and safe.
- Experience with industrial painting, structural steel painting, or similar coating applications preferred.
- Ability to read fabrication and erection drawings.
- Ability to interpret Safety Data Sheets (SDS/MSDS) and technical paint data sheets.
- Experience operating airless spray equipment.
- Experience with abrasive blasting equipment preferred.
- Ability to measure wet and dry film thickness using a DeFelsko gauge.
- Comfortable using tape measures and standard shop measuring tools.
- Ability to safely use hand and power tools.
- Experience operating forklifts, overhead cranes, Combi-Lifts, yard equipment, or similar material handling equipment is a plus.
- Ability to lift, move, and load materials safely.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
