Scientist - Automated Viral Assay Systems
Full‑time position.
Responsibilities- Operate and maintain an integrated automated assay platform including:
- Hamilton liquid handling system
- Cell‑based plate reader
- Imaging system for analysis (e.g., cell imaging / viral readouts)
- Perform and optimize virus‑based assays, including:
- Virus titration (e.g., TCID
50, plaque assays, or equivalent methods) - Infection experiments in mammalian cell lines
- Virus titration (e.g., TCID
- Conduct cell culture activities:
- Maintenance and preparation of cell lines
- Seeding, infection, and assay preparation
- Ensure smooth workflow of automated processes:
- Method setup, execution, and troubleshooting
- Routine maintenance and calibration
- Monitoring system performance and data quality
- Work in biosafety cabinet environments under appropriate containment levels:
- Strict adherence to biosafety and GMP/GLP guidelines (if applicable)
- Handling of viral materials according to safety protocols
- Data handling and analysis:
- Review assay outputs (plate reader & imaging data)
- Ensure proper documentation and reporting
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (automation, virology, data science) to improve assay robustness and throughput
- MSc or PhD in Virology, Microbiology, Cell Biology, Biotechnology, or related field
- Technical Expertise:
- Hands‑on experience with cell culture techniques (mammalian systems)
- Practical knowledge of virology techniques, especially virus titration methods
- Experience working with viral systems in laboratory settings
- Automation & Technical
Skills:- Experience with automated liquid handling systems (preferably Hamilton or similar platforms)
- Strong understanding of automated workflows and assay integration
- Familiarity with plate‑based assays and detection technologies
- Exposure to integrated robotic platforms combining liquid handling and analytics
- Basic scripting or software experience for automation (e.g., method programming)
- Laboratory Environment:
- Experience working in a BSL‑2 (Biosafety Level
2) laboratory environment is required - Strong awareness of biosafety procedures and compliance
