We are seeking a dynamic leader to oversee the Youth Services Department in a diverse community. You will supervise staff, create engaging programs, and build strong community partnerships. From building strong community partnerships to shaping dynamic youth collections and programming, the Youth Services Manager plays a key role in advancing the library’s mission and serving as a visible advocate for youth and families across the community.
As leader of an engaging youth services department, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of readers and thinkers.
Duties include:
- Overseeing the day-to-day operations of a busy Youth Services Department.
- Managing the Youth Services collection by selecting and de-selecting materials.
- Plan, prioritize and make recommendations for the Youth Services Department budget. Track and report expenditures.
- Managing the development and implementation of new concepts and themes for youth programs. Plans and co-ordinates programs for children on and off site.
- Managing all Youth Services staff according to personnel policies and procedures including screening and interviewing applicants; balancing overall staff workload; scheduling; and overseeing attendance reporting.
- Assisting patrons with requests for information or materials utilizing library and community resources and services. Conducts readers’ advisory interviews and determines appropriate reading suggestions.
- Master’s in Library Science and 3 years in a library supervisory role.
- Experience providing reference services in a library setting.
- Project management experience: proven ability to set clear objectives, measure and monitor progress and results.
- Ability to plan, analyze and monitor a departmental budget
- Strong knowledge of current trends in public library services
- Commitment to providing quality patron service
- In-depth knowledge of current trends in library selection tools and collection development resources.

$62,400 plus IMRF and excellent insurance benefits. Union position
