Empower Community School is seeking passionate, committed, and high‑performing educators who are dedicated to ensuring all students achieve at high levels. Teachers at Empower are responsible for delivering rigorous, standards‑aligned instruction while fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
The ideal candidate is a strong instructional leader who is capable of creating and delivering engaging, high‑quality lessons daily, building meaningful relationships, and using data to drive student success. Candidates must firmly believe that all students can learn and achieve at high levels and be committed to supporting the social and emotional development of every student.
Key Responsibilities Instruction & PlanningDesign and implement engaging, standards‑aligned lesson plans daily that meet the diverse needs of all learners
Deliver instruction that is rigorous, differentiated, and aligned to Alabama state standards
Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to maximize student engagement and understanding
Incorporate technology and innovative practices to enhance learning experiences
Prepare lesson plans aligned with Empower’s instructional expectations and submit as required
Analyze student data (e.g., ACAP, NWEA MAP, DIBELS, iReady) to inform instruction
Develop and implement Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) and targeted interventions
Monitor student progress regularly and adjust instruction accordingly
Participate in data meetings, PLCs, and coaching cycles to improve instructional practice
Establish and maintain a structured, positive, and respectful classroom environment
Implement PBIS and restorative practices to support student behavior and development
Set high expectations for student behavior and academic achievement
Create a classroom culture where all students feel safe, valued, and motivated to learn
Actively support students’ social and emotional learning (SEL) through intentional practices and relationship‑building
Build strong, positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues to foster a culture of trust and belonging
Communicate consistently and effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress and well‑being
Collaborate with grade‑level teams, instructional coaches, and school leadership to improve instructional outcomes
Engage families and community partners to support student success and strengthen school‑community connections
Actively participate in and contribute to the school’s House System, including leading and supporting House activities, events, and initiatives that promote school culture, student leadership, and community
Participate in school events, family engagement opportunities, and school‑wide initiatives that align to Empower’s mission and vision
Attend and actively participate in all required professional development, staff meetings, and coaching sessions
Engage in continuous improvement through feedback, reflection, and professional learning
Maintain accurate records, including grades, attendance, and documentation
Uphold all school policies, procedures, and professional standards
Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field (required)
Valid Alabama teaching certification (or eligibility to obtain)
Demonstrated ability to plan and deliver effective instruction
Strong classroom management and organizational skills
Deep belief that all students can learn and achieve at high levels
Commitment to supporting both academic success and social‑emotional development of students
Experience in an urban or charter school setting
Proven track record of improving student outcomes
Experience using data‑driven instruction and intervention strategies
Ability to create and teach engaging lessons daily that drive student achievement
