Empower Schools of Alabama is seeking a Substitute Teacher to support high-quality instruction and ensure that all scholars receive the academic, social, and emotional support necessary to succeed. The Substitute Teacher will implement engaging lessons, support small-group instruction, reinforce classroom expectations, and contribute to a positive, structured learning environment.

Substitute Teachers must believe that all students can learn and achieve at high levels and be committed to supporting the whole child through strong relationships, high expectations, and consistent support.

• Assist in the delivery of engaging, standards-aligned lessons
• Support small group instruction and individualized learning activities
• Reinforce key concepts during independent practice and intervention blocks
• Provide targeted academic support to students based on data

• Support the implementation of strong classroom management systems and routines
• Build positive relationships with students that foster a safe, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment
• Support students' social-emotional development through encouragement, redirection, and restorative practices
• Monitor student behavior and assist with transitions, arrival, dismissal, and other school routines

• Work collaboratively with teachers, special education staff, and interventionists
• Communicate effectively with staff regarding student needs and progress
• Build strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues
• Engage in all House System activities and events

• Demonstrate a growth mindset and willingness to learn and improve instructional practices
• Maintain professionalism, punctuality, and strong work ethic
• Follow all school policies, procedures, and expectations

• High school diploma and ability to pass Work Keys assessment required;
  Associate's degree preferred
• Experience working with children in an educational setting preferred
• Strong belief that all students can learn and succeed
• Ability to support both academic and social-emotional development of students
• Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills
• Ability to take initiative and work under the direction of the School Principal
• CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)

• Ability to create and teach engaging lessons daily that drive student achievement
• Strong relationship-building skills with students, staff, and families

• Ability to support and respond to students' social and emotional needs

• Maintain an active presence in the classroom, including the ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the classroom while students are present to monitor, support, and engage learners
• Ability to supervise students in various settings, including classrooms, hallways, cafeteria, and outdoor areas
