Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and organized individual to join our team as a Special Education Secretary at our Central Office. This full-time position plays a vital role in supporting the Special Education Coordinator by managing administrative tasks, facilitating communication, and ensuring compliance with regulations. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to providing exceptional support to students, families, and staff.
Responsibilities- Manage and maintain confidential student records and documentation related to special education services.
- Assist in the preparation and organization of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and related meetings.
- Coordinate communication between parents, teachers, and outside agencies regarding special education services.
- Schedule meetings and appointments for the Special Education department.
- Prepare and distribute correspondence, reports, and other materials as needed.
- Maintain and update databases and tracking systems for special education students and services.
- Assist in budget tracking and procurement of materials related to special education programs.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations regarding special education.
- Provide administrative support to special education staff, including answering phones, managing emails, and handling inquiries.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in special education administration.
- High school diploma or equivalent;
Associate's degree or higher preferred. - Previous experience in an administrative role, preferably within an educational setting.
- Proficiency in Google Office Suite and experience with database management.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in all tasks.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Final salary based upon qualifications and as determined by the Board
- 12-Month Contract (vacation days, sick days, personal days, and holidays)
- 8-hour workday (final schedule to be determined upon hire)
