Job Summary
We are seeking dedicated and compassionate individuals to join our ESY team as Special Education Paraprofessionals for the Extended School Year (ESY) program at Bethalto East Primary School. This seasonal position is designed to support students with special needs in their academic and social development during the summer months. The ideal candidates will work collaboratively with teachers and other staff to create a positive and inclusive learning environment that fosters student growth and independence.
ESY runs from June 3rd-July 1st from 8:30-11:40 (working hours are 8:00am to 12:00pm).
Responsibilities- Assist special education teachers
- Help create and maintain a safe and supportive classroom environment that encourages student participation and engagement
- Assist with classroom management and promote positive behavior among students
- Support students during transitions between activities, including lunch, recess, and specialized services
- Participate in team meetings and professional development opportunities as required
- Uphold confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions with students, staff, and families
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall mission of the ESY program
- Must be currently employed and in good standing in your current role with the Bethalto CUSD #8
- Must hold a valid Paraprofessional, Substitute, or PEL license registered in Madison County
- Previous experience working with children, particularly those with special needs, is highly desirable
