Earl Harris Elementary School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Kindergarten Teacher Assistant. This full-time position is ideal for someone who is passionate about early childhood education and enjoys working in a collaborative environment. The Kindergarten Teacher Assistant will support the lead teacher in creating a nurturing and engaging classroom atmosphere that promotes the social, emotional, and academic development of young learners.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the lead teacher in planning and implementing daily lesson plans that align with the curriculum.
  • Support classroom management by helping to maintain a positive and safe learning environment.
  • Work with small groups of students to reinforce learning concepts and provide individualized support as needed.
  • Assist with the preparation and organization of classroom materials and resources.
  • Supervise students during playtime, lunch, and other activities to ensure their safety and well-being.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to foster a supportive school community.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge of early childhood education.
  • Help with administrative tasks, such as grading assignments and maintaining student records.
  • Collaborate with the lead teacher to assess student progress and adapt instruction accordingly.
  • Support the implementation of behavioral management strategies to promote positive behavior in the classroom.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree in early childhood education or related field preferred.
  • Previous experience working with young children in an educational setting is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Patience, creativity, and a genuine love for working with children.
  • Basic knowledge of child development and early childhood education principles.
  • Ability to multitask and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills and familiarity with educational software is a plus.
  • Background check and clearance as required by state regulations.
  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
