Accounting Manager
Full-Time, 40 hours/week
The Accounting Manager (AM) is responsible for providing various accounting, financial, and administrative services to the church. The AM also works closely with, while providing support and/or guidance to the Finance, Endowment, and Trustee committees.
EXECUTION OF FINANCIAL DUTIES:- Providing all accounting and bookkeeping functions for the church including A/R, A/P, credit card oversight and payments, cash management and reconciliation/oversight for all church and church related accounts.
- Maintaining appropriate banking and brokerage relationships to ensure secure, efficient, and cost-effective transactions/deposits while maximizing returns on all Christ Church funds.
- In conjunction with relevant committees and department heads, assist in the development of the annual budget. Administer the annual budget through maintenance of accurate ledger records utilizing appropriate software products.
- Preparing/presenting and filing (as necessary) all relevant and required financial reports to the various church committees/council as well as the Western PA Conference of the UMC.
- Obtaining, maintaining, computing, administering, and reporting (as necessary) all information relating to the pension, health insurance, and/or any other benefits or worker compensation claims for the church and church related staffs.
- Analyzing relevant data and providing oversight in matters pertaining to purchasing and contract administration while effectively communicating recommendations to appropriate department heads or committee chairs.
- Financial liaison to staff, Finance, and Endowment.
- Responsible for developing, implementing, and ensuring compliance with generally acceptable accounting principles ().
- In consultation with the Finance Committee, compile annual Christ Church formal financial statements and arrange for an annual review or audit by an independent accounting firm.
- Acting as the Endowment Fund administrator.
- Help with staff onboarding as it pertains to this position.
- Oversee Safe Sanctuary and staff clearances, including fingerprinting.
- Priority attendance at staff meetings, Finance, and Endowment committee meetings and other meetings as requested.
- Participation in special events and services.
- Full-Time, Exempt Position.
- Ability to pass the Safe Sanctuary Policy, including but not limited to Act 33/34 and FBI Clearances.
- Follow the work year, workdays, and benefits outlined in the Staff Handbook.

- Bachelor's degree with a relevant major or at least 3 years-experience working in a similar financial field.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High integrity and business ethics standards.
- Ability to operate effectively, both independently and in a team environment.
- Supervisory and leadership skills.
- Experience working with confidential information.
- Strong computer skills with a demonstrated familiarity with accounting software as well as Microsoft Office products.
- Job performance will be reviewed at least annually by the Executive Director.
