Capital Projects / Major Maintenance Construction Inspector

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Hands‑on construction experience.
• Bachelor's degree with emphasis in construction management, engineering, architecture, or related field, or work experience sufficient to substitute for formal education.
• Demonstrated knowledge of principles, practices, equipment, procedures, and materials pertinent to the construction, maintenance, repair, and alteration of buildings and related facilities and equipment.
• Demonstrated ability to use PC computers, electronic office equipment and be familiar with general office procedures.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with architects, engineers, site administrators, contractor superintendents, and crew foremen.
• Ability to live and work in a cross‑cultural rural, Alaskan environment.
• Ability and willingness to travel to remote village locations, as necessary.
• Ability to carry out successfully the duties described below.

Duties:

• Reviews design drawings and specifications for conformance with district programs, building design standards and accepted construction methods.
• Inspects and evaluates in-progress construction work of contractors and maintenance personnel to determine conformance with approved plans and specifications and accepted industry practices and procedures.
• Prepares and submits regular inspection reports of ongoing work.
• Assists in the review of contractor progress evaluations.
• Performs other duties as assigned or as necessary for the proper execution of the construction program.

Position Type: Part-Time

Salary: $37.77 to $45.66 Per Year
