Job SummaryThe Department of Communication Studies at the University of North Carolina Wilmington invites applicants for a nine‑month non‑tenure track lecturer position in digital media to begin August 2026. This is a one‑year position that is renewable annually, contingent upon satisfactory performance, departmental needs, and the availability of funding.
Responsibilities- Teach a 4/4 load with a primary focus on digital storytelling, field video, and other digital media production including podcasting.
- Develop and teach content‑focused courses such as media and society as opportunities allow.
- Engage in student mentoring, advising student organizations, and service to the department, campus, and community.
- Negotiate service commitments to foster professional enrichment and meet departmental needs.
- Possibly modify teaching load with signature projects dependent on candidate skills and experience.
- Optionally teach in the summer.
- Minimum
Education and Experience:
MS, MA, or MFA in communication studies, media studies, or a closely related field at time of application. - Preferred Education, Knowledge,
Skills & Experience:- Demonstrated ability to teach applied learning and collaborate with community partners.
- Desire to be an advisor for student organizations.
- Demonstrated ability to teach the use of current video and audio production equipment and uphold industry standards for production.
- Secondary teaching and service areas that meet the needs of the department, university, and community.
