This position is being recruited for in Anchorage, Soldotna, Wasilla, Fairbanks, or Juneau.

Pay will be determined based on location of selected individual.

Anchorage, Soldotna, Wasilla salary: $4,133.60

Fairbanks salary: $4,257.60

Juneau salary: $4,340.00

What you will be doing:

Manage and develop the 30-position statewide Food Safety and Sanitation Program team, including two program managers, with staff located in eight Alaska communities.

Set priorities and provide technical and regulatory direction for food safety, seafood and shellfish safety, and sanitation at public facilities.

Oversee permitting, inspections, technical assistance, and compliance activities for more than 7,000 regulated facilities across Alaska.

Strengthen workforce training and statewide consistency in how program standards are interpreted and administered.

Guide technology modernization and coordinate with industry and local, tribal, state, and federal partners to protect public health and support Alaska’s food industries.

This position may be located in an approved DEC office in Alaska and reports directly to the Environmental Health Division Director, who is based in downtown Anchorage. The work is primarily performed in a collaborative office environment, with flexible scheduling and telework available as appropriate to program and staff needs and includes periodic travel.
