Occupational Therapy
The Occupational Therapist provides full-time, quality outpatient and inpatient occupational therapy care, which may include some work at a local Long Term Care facility. The role involves treating patients across all age ranges and diagnoses within the State of Alaska's occupational therapy scope of practice. Responsibilities include performing home visits, village travel, and frequent collaboration with medical providers while using strong didactic skills due to Alaska's Direct Access privilege for occupational therapy.
The position incorporates evidenced-based medicine into patient plans of care and exemplifies professional conduct, patient care ethics, and respect for cultural diversity.
- Modify patient care plans appropriately, utilizing age-specific and patient-specific considerations.
- Support the mission of providing excellent health care to the community.
- Read, analyze, and interpret occupational therapy periodicals and medical literature.
- Compose patient care documentation and medical correspondence.
- Communicate effectively with medical staff, peers, administrative personnel, and diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited program in Occupational Therapy.
- Must be licensed in good standing in Alaska as an OT or have a good-standing license in another state and awaiting licensure in Alaska.
- Current certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- No minimum clinical experience required, but preferred.
