ASRC Federal Communications is seeking a Network Support Technician for our ISS2 contract supporting our Air Force customer. This position is located on Eareckson Air Station (EAS) and is a rotational role with 3 months on‑site and 1 month off unpaid. On‑site housing is provided in a dormitory, meals are furnished through the cafeteria, and transportation from Anchorage, AK, is provided by government‑sponsored aircraft.

/ General Description of Job

The Network Support Technician performs technical, operational, and training support to users of personal computers either by telephone or on‑site for PC desktop hardware and software packages. The technician supports the network management architecture, integrates network management information system requirements, and provides all departments with network management services, maintenance, support, and technical information. The incumbent installs and tests personal computers, printers, and other peripherals, configures operating systems, loads shrink wrap programs and other application software, troubleshoots computer problems, performs hardware and software diagnostics, coordinates needed repairs, resolves system and network problems, and participates in the evaluation of system configuration and software.

Duties & Job Functions
  • Manage user accounts and system resources using Active Directory for the local company network.
  • Troubleshoot JBER NIPR/SIPR network issues and engage JBER network teams for further assistance.
  • Troubleshoot a wide range of computer problems including hardware, software, and security issues.
  • Respond to customer requests for assistance submitted via telephone, email, or in person.
  • Receive requests for resolution of hardware or software problems that may require in‑depth research.
  • Analyze customer problems and research AIMS software for possible solutions and work with corporate IT to find solutions to database issues.
  • Install and configure network operating systems and hardware.
  • Support the LAN, WAN, and network systems, including configurations, installations, and network security.
  • Maintain network hardware and software in conjunction with the AF network systems.
  • Implement information management policies and procedures.
  • Execute procedures and policies to accomplish the department’s operational mission efficiently and effectively, emphasizing integration of information management disciplines.
  • Ensure project compliance with government guidelines as specified within the contract.
  • Accomplish data management, including data element standardization and information sharing.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Accountable For
  • Demonstrate knowledge of various types of computer hardware, software, and operating systems, including Honeywell Vindicator IDS/ACS Servers, WISE workstations, and CCTV System servers.
  • Work with AIMS software.
  • Use common office machinery, including copiers, fax machines, and computers.
  • Perform duties in a timely, cost‑effective manner.
  • Work harmoniously with others.
  • Use application software systems such as the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Manage network servers and software such as Windows Server.
  • Administer network security, network management, and monitoring.
  • Maintain LANs, WANs, and wireless LANs.
  • Apply best practices for securing LANs, WANs, and wireless LANs.
  • Operate and maintain all installed networking resources (routers, switches, firewalls, Network Management Systems, etc.).
  • Perform assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
Work Conditions

Work is typically sedentary and performed in an office setting. The incumbent should be able to sit for extended periods, stand, walk, talk, hear, and write. Occasional lifting, handling, or moving of objects without assistance weighing up to 35 pounds may be required.
