Job Description:

Responsible for the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Is responsible for directing and coordinating nursing care for patients based on nursing practice standards. Collaborates with other healthcare professionals to provide quality, cost-effective, and efficient care and to achieve the best possible patient outcomes. Serves as a resource person when the situation requires.

Applies age-specific considerations and cultural diversity when rendering patient care. Is responsible for the care of all patients from birth to elderly during the pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care.

Requirements:

• Must have completed a program of education in nursing from an NLN approved institution. Associate Degree in Nursing required, BSN preferred.
• Minimum 1-2 years OR experience.
• Must be licensed in good standing in the State of Alaska as a Registered Professional Nurse.
• Current BLS & ACLS, preferred to have PALS.
• National Certification in Surgery/PACU preferred.
• Proficient oral and written communication skills.
• Cognitive and technical knowledge required with the ability to manage care across the continuum of care.
• Knowledge of AORN standards required.
• Ability to work in patient care setting.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
• Ability to follow guidelines and procedures.
