Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
To provide quality nursing care to all patients. To serve as a viable member of the nursing staff, utilizing the scope of practice. Provide care to all patients with respect for patient rights and dignity. Actual duties and responsibilities may vary depending on the assigned area of the Long Term Care facility.
Minimum Education:
Graduate from an approved school for LPNs.
Minimum Experience:
New graduates accepted. One year of experience within a hospital or long-term care setting preferred.
Specialized Knowledge and
Skills:
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
- Ability to communicate effectively with physicians and other medical staff as part of a collaborative team.
- Ability to communicate effectively with members of different cultures who may or may not speak English.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
