Travel RN - Med​/Surg

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Outpatient position requiring an active Alaska RN license and at least 2 years of nursing experience.

• Active Alaska RN license in good standing required
• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience required
• Completion of an NLN-approved nursing education program required
• Current BLS certification required
• Must pass and maintain required clinical competencies for the position
• Must be prepared to take a medication calculation math test for adults and pediatrics upon arrival
• Documentation required for competencies including IV/central line care, fall precautions, age-specific care, abuse/neglect recognition, pain management, and blood transfusion administration
• Basic EKG and nursing skills required
• Proficient oral and written communication skills required
• Knowledge of medical terminology required
• DOB and SSN required for consideration

• Outpatient/ambulatory care setting providing care to patients from birth to elderly
• Works as a floor nurse in a Med/Surg outpatient environment
• Schedule is Monday through Friday
• Utilizes office equipment such as computer, telephone, fax, and copy machine
• Uses medical equipment appropriate to the position, including EKG and cystoscopy equipment
• May supervise unit secretaries and PCTs in collaboration with the charge nurse
• Responsible for delivering patient care through the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation
• Collaborates with other healthcare professionals to achieve quality, cost-effective patient outcomes
• Applies age-specific and culturally sensitive considerations when providing care
• Serves as a resource for other staff as needed
• Administers treatments and medications, interprets diagnostic tests, and provides patient/family education
• Facility-provided housing is available, consisting of shared units with private bedrooms (male or female only, no pets)
• Flight reimbursement is available for travel to and from the assignment, subject to submission of itemized receipts
• Orientation is held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays
• First-time travelers may be considered for this position
