We’re hiring a ROSS (Resident Opportunities and Self-Sufficiency) Housing Services Coordinator to support Cook Inlet Housing residents in achieving housing stability and independence. This role is ideal for a college student, someone re-entering the workforce, or anyone seeking a flexible schedule to balance work with family or other responsibilities.

We’re Cook Inlet Housing Authority – we develop, own, and operate a portfolio of affordable rental housing throughout the Cook Inlet Region of Southcentral Alaska. We are leaders in community development and advocacy work around affordable housing. We are the Tribally Designated Housing Entity for Cook Inlet Region, Inc. What

You’ll Do

As a ROSS Housing Services Coordinator, you’ll work directly with residents living in CIHA’s NAHASDA-assisted rental units. Your role will focus on helping individuals and families stay housed, improve their financial situation, and access services that support long‑term stability. You’ll also assist elderly and disabled residents in maintaining independence allowing them to stay in an independent living environment.

Your day‑to‑day work will include:

  • Meeting with residents to understand their needs and goals
  • Assisting residents in achieving financial literacy by setting up bank accounts, creating household budgets, and helping them identify strategies to pay bills on time.
  • Supporting job searches, resume writing, and interview preparation
  • Providing elderly and disabled residents with resources and support that will allow them to “age in place,” which may include applying for the SNAP program, SSI/SSD, VA benefits, utility payment assistance, additional disability benefits, rental assistance, and/or Medicare/Medicaid.
  • Working with property staff to address rent or utility delinquencies and set‑up payment plans
  • Coordinating with community partners to connect residents with additional supportive services

    Keeping detailed case notes and tracking progress in our software system
  • Providing updates and reports to supervisors and leadership
We’re seeking someone who:
  • Communicates clearly and respectfully
  • Can work independently and manage their own schedule
  • Is comfortable working with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Has strong organizational and problem‑solving skills
  • Is proficient with Microsoft Office tools
  • Is familiar with Alaska landlord‑tenant laws (or willing to learn)
This position is a great fit for individuals with experience in:
  • Affordable housing programs or property management
  • Social services, case management, or community outreach
  • Employment services or financial counseling

    Nonprofit or tribal organizations serving Alaska Native or American Indian communities
The Basics
  • At least two years of relevant experience
  • Ability to travel to site properties and CIHA offices as needed
  • Education in fields such as Human Services, Social Work, Sociology, Public Administration, Community Development, Psychology, Education, Health Sciences.
  • Valid Driver’s License
