We are seeking an experienced Design Consultant with a strong background in tile and natural stone to work directly with interior designers, builders, architects, and retail clients. This role requires both creative design ability and technical proficiency. The ideal candidate understands natural stone characteristics, tile applications, layout strategy, and can confidently guide customers from concept through order placement.

This position is client‑facing and consultative in nature. You will be responsible for developing cohesive material packages, assisting with layouts, reviewing plans, and ensuring technical accuracy in product selection and quantities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with interior designers, builders, and homeowners to select tile and natural stone materials for residential and commercial projects
  • Assist customers with layout concepts, pattern development, and material coordination across floors, walls, kitchens, bathrooms, and exterior spaces
  • Provide expertise on natural stone varieties (marble, limestone, travertine, quartzite, slate, etc.), including performance characteristics, porosity, maintenance requirements, and appropriate applications
  • Coordinate cohesive design palettes including field tile, mosaics, trims, slabs, and complementary materials
  • Accurately calculate square footage, waste factors, trim requirements, and accessory quantities
  • Read and interpret architectural blueprints, elevations, and finish schedules
  • Manage substitute selling when materials are discontinued, delayed, or out of stock—while maintaining design integrity and budget parameters
  • Communicate effectively with purchasing and operations teams regarding availability, lead times, and project timelines
  • Maintain organized client files, quotes, and follow‑ups
  • Support showroom presentation and assist in curating displays when needed
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in tile and natural stone sales or design consulting
  • Demonstrated knowledge of natural stone properties and differences between materials
  • Strong understanding of tile installation standards and application best practices
  • Ability to perform precise square footage and quantity calculations
  • Experience reading blueprints and construction documents
  • Confident in substitute selling and problem‑solving supply chain challenges
  • Strong interpersonal and consultative sales skills
  • Detail‑oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel preferred); experience with CRM or ERP systems is a plus
Ideal Candidate Profile
  • Design‑driven but technically grounded
  • Comfortable working with trade professionals and high‑end clientele
  • Solutions‑oriented with strong follow‑through
  • Able to balance creativity with budget and lead‑time constraints
  • Team‑oriented and proactive
  • Competitive base salary + commission structure
  • Health benefits (if applicable)
  • Paid time off
  • Growth opportunities within a growing organization

If you are passionate about design, understand the nuances of natural stone, and enjoy guiding clients through thoughtful material selection, we would welcome the opportunity to speak with you.
