Tool & Die Maker / Machinist - 1st Shift
Eaton's AER FED division is currently seeking a Tool & Die Maker / Machinist - 1st Shift to join our team in Bethel, CT! The core hours are 7 am - 3:30 pm, Monday - Friday. The hourly range for this position is $34-$43 per hour. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. WhatYou'll Do:
The Tool Maker / Machinist supports manufacturing and engineering departments by manufacturing various production and prototype components, fixtures, and tools. Eaton's Bethel, CT facility is a premier manufacturer in the aerospace industry specializing with creating components for commercial, military, and space technologies. Our team recently helped support the recent Artimus 2 launch with 65 parts from the plant used in the launch.
In this role, you will:
- Machine complex tooling and fixtures working with Manufacturing Engineering and Design Engineering
- Perform secondary operations on production units by using manual multi axis millers and lathes, manual drill presses, shears, saws, etc.
- Set-up and run manual machine shop equipment including multi axis millers and lathes, manual drill presses, shears, saws, etc.
- Set-up and operate surface grinding machines.
- Work from drawings, prints, and / or work instructions.
- Develop, fabricate, and sharpen various cutting tools and specialty tools.
- Inspect GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) features using basic and advanced inspection techniques.
- Cut open welded units to complete production operations.
- Assist shop management in training shop employees in common machine shop practices and company specific processes and procedures.
Required (Basic)
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent from accredited institution
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in the trade as a Tool Maker.
- Experience or formal education in design/drafting with emphasis on CAD from an accredited institution.

Preferred:
- Associate Degree in a technical field from an accredited institution.
Skills:
- High mechanical aptitude
- Knows how to read blueprints
- Proficiency in trigonometry
- Working knowledge of computers.
- Understand the mechanics of chip formation and metal cutting.
- Knowledge of ANSI/EIA RS – 274 ("G" code NC programs)
