The Education Programs & Operations Associate plays a vital role in supporting the day-to-day execution of Black Rock Center for the Arts education programs. This position is responsible for coordinating course operations, maintaining registration systems, supporting faculty administration, and ensuring clear and consistent communication with students and families.

Working closely with internal teams, clients, and teaching artists, this role ensures that programs are well-organized, accessible, and delivered with a high level of care and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Uphold Black Rock Center’s mission and values through all education program operations,
  • Contribute to an inclusive, welcoming, and accessible learning environment,
  • Support positive relationships with students, families, and teaching artists,
  • Assist in building and maintaining seasonal course offerings.
  • Input course information on Website and registration systems, maintaining accurate and up-to-date course listings.
  • Support scheduling of classes, spaces, and program logistics.
  • Track enrollment, attendance, and other data; flag trends, capacity issues, or opportunities.
  • Assist in coordinating program materials and supplies.
  • Support classroom readiness, program setup, and lead space maintenance throughout Education seasons
  • Help ensure smooth day-to-day program execution and assist in developing and improving systems and workflows.
  • Support registration processes, including troubleshooting and user support.
  • Support preparation and tracking of MOUs and teaching artist contracts.
  • Maintain records of teaching schedules and agreements.
  • Assist with onboarding communications for teaching artists.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for student and family inquiries.
  • Send registration confirmations, reminders, and program updates.
  • Serve as an all-hands-on-deck team member during major events.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in arts administration, education, or related field
  • 1–3+ years of experience in program coordination, administration, or customer-facing roles
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with high attention to detail
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with databases or registration systems preferred
  • Strong customer service orientation, positive attitude, culturally sensitive
  • Proven ability to work independently and in a team-based environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace
  • Demonstrated commitment to Black Rock Center’s mission to bring performing and visual arts experiences to diverse audiences and provide accessible opportunities to engage in the arts.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to sit, stand, and work at a computer for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed for program setup
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends

Compensation and Benefits

The Education Associate is a regular part-time position.

  • The pay range is $21.15 to 25 per hour, depending on experience
  • This position earns vacation pay of 60 hours per year
  • All employees are covered by Maryland’s Sick and Safe Leave Policy. Staff also have access to the Maryland Saves retirement savings program as well as free and discounted tickets and classes.
