Summary
Description:
Under direction, manages the operations of the school^s main offices and its staff. Ensures that school office and related administrative activities are conducted in accordance with established policies and procedures, makes decisions involving office routines and procedures, and leads and trains other clerical staff. Supports the principal and the administrative team by carrying out administrative duties, such as first-line response, maintaining schedules, and reviewing correspondence for formatting, spelling, punctuation, and grammar before submitting for assigned administrator^s signature.
Responsible for interacting with various stakeholders of the school community and the school system. Physical Demands:
Position typically requires sustained operation of keyboard devices. Special Requirements:
Knowledge Skills Abilities:
Thorough knowledge of modern office practices and procedures; office management; standard records procedures; business English; computer proficiency to include multiple computer applications designed to execute office work. Ability to multi-task, work independently, and proactively; meet deadlines; maintain confidential and important data and records and prepare reports from such records; compose and proofread correspondence; interact effectively and courteously with the school community;
exercise sound judgment and discretion in applying and interpreting school policies and procedures. Demonstrates commitment to students; high degree of professionalism; excellent problem-solving, organizational, communications, and interpersonal skills with minimal supervision. Knowledge of and the ability to meet the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS).
Education Training
Experience:
High School or GED diploma required. Associates degree preferred. Minimum five years of progressively more responsible experience, three of which shall have been performing clerical work in a school setting. Training in personal computing sufficient to perform complex tasks working with text documents, spreadsheets and databases. Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.
