Ourisman Automotive Group is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Maryland State Inspector with a minimum of 5 years of hands‑on experience. The ideal candidate will possess in‑depth knowledge of state vehicle inspection regulations and ensure vehicles meet all safety and emissions standards. This role requires attention to detail, strong mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to maintaining compliance with Maryland state inspection guidelines.

• Conduct comprehensive safety and emissions inspections on vehicles in compliance with Maryland state laws.
• Evaluate and document all vehicle components and deficiencies or repairs needed to meet inspection standards, including brakes, suspension, tires, lights and emissions systems.
• Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to identify mechanical issues and safety concerns.
• Communicate inspection results to customers clearly and professionally, providing recommendations for repairs as necessary.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, including documentation of passed and failed vehicles.
• Stay updated on state inspection regulations, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance, specifically Maryland Vehicle Inspection program (MVIP).
• Will be required to certify with Manufacturer minimum requirements on Certified Used Vehicles.
• Collaborate with service technicians to ensure timely and efficient repairs are completed.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to safety protocols and practices.
• Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries and concerns promptly and courteously.
• Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.

• Valid Maryland State Inspector certification.
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a certified inspector or automotive technician.
• Strong diagnostic and problem solving skills.
• Strong understanding of vehicle systems, safety regulations, and emissions standards.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand, walk, and bend for extended periods.
• Basic computer skills for documentation and record‑keeping.
• ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certification preferred.
• Familiarity with dealership or independent repair shop environments preferred.
