NextGen Emerging Artists Exhibition & Mentorship

Vis Arts invites emerging artists ages 17–27 from DC, Maryland, and Virginia to apply for Next Gen 13.0, our annual exhibition spotlighting new and developing voices. Designed for artists with little or no prior exhibition experience, this opportunity offers a chance to show work in a professional gallery setting and take part in artist talks, critiques, and professional development. The exhibition will be on view at the Gibbs Street Gallery from March 27–May 10, 2026.

Emerging artists ages 17–27 from the DC, Maryland, and Virginia region.

• Exhibition opportunity:
  Work will be presented in a professional gallery setting at the Gibbs Street Gallery as part of Next Gen 13.0 (March 27–May 10, 2026).
• Professional development & mentoring:
  Participation in critiques, artist talks, and professional development sessions led by local curators and arts administrators who actively work with emerging artists. (Specific mentors vary by year and are selected by Vis Arts.)
• Networking opportunities:
  Engagement with fellow emerging artists, Vis Arts staff, visiting curators, and arts professionals through the opening reception, talks and group programming.
• Marketing & visibility:
  Inclusion in Vis Arts’ exhibition promotion (website, email newsletters, social media, and gallery materials), providing public exposure to curators, community members, and potential collectors.
