Position:
Internist

Provide comprehensive specialized internal medicine care to adults and the elderly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, evidence-based medical care focusing on chronic illnesses in adult and elderly patients.
  • Offer guidance and consultation to medical staff and supervise when necessary.
  • Manage a panel of internal medicine patients in coordination with the care team.
  • Document all patient interactions accurately in medical records.
  • Participate in quality improvement programs.
  • Educate medical students and residents.
  • Maintain licensure and certification through ongoing education.
  • Provide services across SEARHC facilities and other locations as per agreements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Medical degree and completion of an accredited internal medicine residency.
  • Active, unrestricted MD or DO license in the US; must apply to Alaska medical board within six months of employment.
  • Unrestricted DEA certification.
  • BLS certification.

Experience:

  • Board certification by ABIM or pending certification upon residency completion.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of internal medicine principles.
  • Caring, respectful, and ethical behavior.
  • Adherence to standards like The Joint Commission, HIPAA, EMTALA, and risk management principles.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records and clinical technology.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lead, collaborate, and resolve conflicts effectively.
  • Proficiency in surgical skills relevant to training.

Certifications:

Must meet all required certifications and be committed to ongoing professional development.
