Norwood seeks a part‑time Lower School Strings Teacher to join its Suzuki‑inspired violin program for students in kindergarten through fourth grade. Working as part of a collaborative team with two other violin teachers and the Lower School Strings Program Coordinator, the successful candidate will teach beginning and intermediate violin students through a combination of weekly group classes and private lessons. The teacher will help students develop strong foundational technique, ensemble skills, and a lifelong appreciation for music while fostering a joyful and supportive learning environment.
The Lower School Strings Teacher communicates regularly with parents and homeroom teachers regarding student progress and collaborates closely with colleagues in the music department to support performances and other program activities.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree required; prior violin teaching experience preferred
- Interest in and familiarity with Suzuki violin pedagogy
- Ability to teach beginning and intermediate students in both group classes and private lessons
- Strong classroom management skills and the ability to engage students in kindergarten through fourth grade
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Collaborative, flexible, and organized approach to teaching
- Willingness to assist with related program responsibilities, including instrument tuning, organization, and leading group activities
