Faculty Association Collective Bargaining Unit (CBA) applicable Salary Information : $25,954.12 – $55,212.12 annually (Pro-rated 50% FTE rate based on the current CBA faculty scale of $51,908.24 – $ for a full-time position; actual placement determined by education and experience step. For example, a teacher with a Bachelor's degree and a teaching credential with 5 years of experience will have a base salary of $28,984.89 per year for this 50% FTE part-time position.

In addition to base compensation, this position is eligible for: paid time off, paid holidays, and health and retirement benefits enrollment, which includes medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and a 403(b) plan, pro-rated in accordance with hours worked and in accordance with the conditions outlined in the Faculty Association Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Position SummaryThe Secondary School Art Teacher is responsible for cultivating an appreciation for aesthetics and creative expression in secondary students (Middle and High School). Reporting directly to the Secondary School Director, the teacher guides students through the principles of design, art history, and practical artistic mediums, encouraging both technical skill development and individual creative talent. French is the language of instruction for this position.
Working within a multicultural educational environment, the successful candidate delivers high-quality instruction in alignment with school guidelines, manages studio assets safely, and curates opportunities to showcase student work across the school community. This position requires demonstrating the competencies and behaviors needed to improve student preparedness and academic mastery of the subject, and to support the core values, vision, and mission of Rochambeau.
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging visual arts instruction covering drawing, painting, lettering, design principles, elements of art, and art history.
- Demonstrate diverse studio techniques and mediums, including drawing media, masters' techniques, and acrylic paint applications (dry brushing, staining, layering, underpainting, and monoprinting).
- Foster aesthetic concepts, qualitative analysis, and critical appreciation of art among students.
- Differentiate instruction through individual and small-group learning activities to accommodate students with varying intellectual, language, and artistic abilities.
- Instruct students on the safe handling, proper care, and maintenance of art tools, equipment, and studio materials.
- Maintain an organized workspace and inventory control system for storage areas to prevent loss or damage and streamline distribution.
- Select, order, and maintain inventory records for books, art supplies, tools, and instructional aids within allocated parameters.
- Plan, organize, and curate art displays and exhibitions throughout the campus and local community to showcase student achievements.
