Position: Part-Time Educator I / Assistant Professor - PESMOA

HJF is seeking a Part-Time
Educator I (Assistant Professor) to serve in teaching and service roles.
This position is 8 hours per week and will provide sick leave benefits only
. The individual will teach courses, serve as an academic advisor, advise the research projects for Masters and PhD learners. This role will also prepare manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals and develop presentations for scholarly conferences.

The Assistant Professor will provide lectures and coursework coordination for the didactic course NURS
5120 Global Perspectives Seminar in Complex Healthcare Systems-I (offered in the Fall: Aug-Nov) and NURS 5130 Global Perspective Seminar in Complex Healthcare Systems-II (offered in the Spring: Jan-Apr). The incumbent will be responsible for teaching graduate courses as assigned.

This position will be in support of the Uniformed Services of the Health Sciences (USUHS) Graduate School of Nursing (GSN) which is located in Bethesda, MD.

The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. We serve military, medical, academic and government clients by administering, managing and supporting preeminent scientific programs that benefit members of the armed forces and civilians alike. Since its founding in 1983, HJF has served as a vital link between the military medical community and its federal and private partners.

HJF's support and administrative capabilities allow military medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific focus and accomplish their research goals.

  • Provide leadership and coordinate for two Global Perspectives Seminar (GPS) courses designed to provide Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) students with the core/foundational content in 6 of the 10 elements in the 2026 American Association of Colleges of Nursing Essentials.
  • Execute course learning strategies that include lectures, seminars, reflection, interprofessional and integrated learning, student presentations, small group work, and written assignments.
  • Guide and deliver student evaluations, when necessary, which includes grading GPS Deliverables, IPE Reflective Practice Activities, IPE Leadership Health Systems Sessions, and GPS Discussion Boards.
  • Submit instructional material for lecture to the course program coordinator at least 14 days prior to delivery.
  • Ensure any substitutions in teaching assignments are pre-approved by the Course Directors in writing.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.
Education and Experience
  • Doctoral Degree required in a health related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience required.
Required Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Strong background in Healthcare Policy and Administration.
  • Experienced in teaching graduate students.
  • Able to communicate clearly in English in spoken and written formats.
  • Knowledge of and experience with teaching content areas in field of specialization.
  • Familiarity with academic and research advising Master and PhD students.
  • Strong personal initiative and ability to work independently.
  • Ability to use sound judgment in solving problems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including ability to coordinate disparate groups of faculty and learners in meeting and working together.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a T1/Public Trust background check.
Physical Capabilities
  • Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods.
Work Environment
  • This position will take place primarily in an office and classroom setting.
Compensation
  • The hourly pay range for this position is $50.86 - $56.39. Actual hourly pay will be determined based on experience, education, etc.

Employment with HJF is contingent upon successful completion of a background check, which may include, but is not limited to, contacting your professional references, verification of previous employment, education and credentials, a criminal background check, and a department of motor vehicle (DMV) check if applicable.
