Basic Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship Required.
- Must have the ability to obtain / maintain a Public Trust clearance.
- Bachelor’s degree and 8 years’ experience or Masters degree and 6 years’ experience or Associate’s degree and 10 years years’ experience or HS diploma/equivalent and 12 years’ experience.
- Experience supporting aviation surveillance and radar systems.
- Demonstrated experience with:
- ADS-B surveillance systems
- ASR-7, ASR-11, and ARSR radar platforms
- Primary (PSR) and Secondary (SSR) radar technologies
- Strong understanding of ground-based surveillance systems vs. aircraft-dependent surveillance.
- Experience working alongside TPMs, engineers, and architects in surveillance, radar, networking, and communications domains.
- Ability to analyze system performance, identify risks, and support technical resolution.
- Familiarity with radar signal processing concepts, coverage modeling, and system performance metrics.
- Experience managing technical dependencies, interfaces, upgrades, and sustainment.
- Experience coordinating with vendors like INDRA, SAAB.
- Familiarity with FAA systems, air traffic control environments, or federal modernization programs.
- Familiarity with Next Gen surveillance modernization initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical discipline
- Certifications such as FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License (GROL), CCNA Wireless, or equivalent.
- Knowledge of signal processing techniques, radar simulation tools, or advanced networking technologies.
- Background in critical infrastructure sustainment or aviation safety standards.
- Experience with surveillance system integration, fusion, or tracking systems.
- Knowledge of communications and networking dependencies supporting radar data transport.
- Background in systems engineering lifecycle support (requirements, design, test, deployment).

Peraton is seeking an experienced Surveillance Radar Specialist to support the design, integration, modernization, and sustainment of FAA surveillance systems across the National Airspace System (NAS). This role provides technical leadership and oversight for radar-based and cooperative surveillance systems, ensuring performance, safety, interoperability, and operational readiness across both ground-based and aircraft-dependent surveillance environments.
The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with primary and secondary radar systems, ADS-B, and FAA surveillance architectures, and has worked closely with TPMs, engineers, and architects across surveillance, networking, and communications domains.
In this position, you will:
- Provide technical leadership and engineering support for FAA surveillance and radar systems.
- Support design, analysis, and sustainment of PSR and SSR systems.
- Work with cooperative and non-cooperative surveillance technologies, including:
- ADS-B (Automatic Dependent Surveillance–Broadcast)
- ASR-7 and ASR-11 airport surveillance radars
- ARSR (Air Route Surveillance Radar) systems
- Support integration of surveillance systems with networking and communications infrastructures.
- Collaborate with Technical Program Managers (TPMs), system engineers, network engineers, and architects to align designs and deployments.
