Leidos Dynetics’ Advanced Materials Department is seeking a passionate, detail-oriented problem‑solver to serve as a Mechanical Engineer. With offices across the United States engaging in defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Leidos provides responsive, cost‑effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions.
Primary Responsibilities- Balance multiple activities including but not limited to:
- Computer‑Aided Design (CAD) modelling for hypersonic vehicles and manufacturing components
- Engineering analysis simulations utilizing third‑party software to test the mechanical and thermal behavior of components under loading
- Solving complex engineering challenges with both analytical and experimental approaches
- Collaborating with a team, management, and the department to gather requirements, analyze problems, and design solutions for software focused tasks
- Resident of Central Indiana area or willing to relocate to work on‑site in Crane, IN
- U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
- Ability to work in both collaborative team environments and independently
- Experience with CAD modelling using Solid Works or CREO Parametric
- Experience with analysis/coding software such as MATLAB or Python
- Knowledge of basic manufacturing processes to help in the design of components
- Ability to draw conclusions on necessary changes from simulation results
- Interest and motivation in learning more about ground‑breaking hypersonic technologies, including vehicle and Thermal Protection System (TPS) manufacturing
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum 3.0 GPA in mechanical engineering, materials science, manufacturing engineering, or a related field from an ABET accredited university
- Hands‑on experience with manufacturing processes such as subtractive/additive manufacturing and casting
- Experience with running simulations to analyze mechanical and/or thermal performance of aerospace vehicles
- Familiarity with different numerical methods and their best use‑cases
