BIOMEDICAL ENGINEER

Salary Requirement: $90,000-$115,000

Location:

Walter Reed - Bethesda, MD

Must live in the DMV area, onsite only.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering.
  • Five (5) years’ experience in working with, repairing, and troubleshooting biomedical equipment.
  • Three (3) or more years’ experience in working with, repairing, and troubleshooting medical simulators (robotic patients and virtual reality simulators).
  • Shall be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Minimum Three (3) years’ experience with at least one of the following systems:
  • Laerdal Medical
  • VirtaMED
  • CAE Healthcare
  • Mimic Technologies
  • Simbionix
Job Responsibilities
  • Apply advanced engineering practices, digital design, and medical knowledge to complex multidisciplinary patient care through simulation technologies.
  • Maintain competency by reviewing literature, attending conferences, and presenting technical papers nationally.
  • Assist in overseas simulation diagnostic troubleshooting and repair for non-functioning training units at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.
  • Plan and carry out projects, evaluate technical repair procedures and processes, and improve efficiency and productivity of the Simulation Center.
  • Provide recommendations on technical issues and coordinate with vendors for equipment maintenance and supplies.
  • Prepare monthly reports on production, inventory, quality improvement initiatives, and training.
  • Assist with resolving technical issues with simulation training equipment ranging from computerized task trainers to advanced virtual reality simulators.
  • Ensure personnel adhere to SOPs, write and update SOPs, and track troubleshooting and repair logs.
  • Research simulation technology and provide findings to the Medical Director.
  • Provide advice to services on application and utilization of training simulators.
  • Maintain a file of past and cumulative usage, assist with database maintenance for equipment supplies, and ensure compliance with hand receipt policies.
  • Coordinate calibration, repair, and maintenance of simulators and associated equipment.
  • Participate in research protocols related to best practices of training equipment and attend national conferences to demonstrate new technology.
  • Promote the MTF Simulation Center by providing informational tours and supporting liaison activities with MTF personnel, vendors, and visitors.
  • Communicate in writing and verbally, prepare justifications for purchases, and work across multiple departments with constant interruptions.
