Position Information- Position Type: Full-Time, Exempt
- Work Location: Patuxent River, MD
- Pay Details: $80,000 - $145,000+ / year (depending on experience)
Instrumentation Engineer to support VX‑20 and serve as an authoritative technical specialist responsible for the design, development, construction, and test and evaluation of complex, advanced Special Flight Test Instrumentation (SFTI) systems and sub‑systems, with special expertise in data processing hardware and software. The engineer performs research and development to provide advanced hardware and software for flight test data operations, investigates availability of commercial hardware, advises customer leadership, and manages post‑flight data processing procedures.
Responsibilities- Support VX‑20 for E‑2D and P‑8 aircraft.
- Instrumentation system design, integration, calibration, and flight support.
- Manage small to medium instrumentation projects, including cost, schedule, and performance oversight.
- Provide support from design, programming, and build through ground and flight test, including pre‑flights, post‑flights, re‑calibrations, flight support at the ground station, data validation, and data playback.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Conditions vary; most work performed in enclosed buildings.
- Work includes sitting, standing, walking, lifting, and reaching.
- Must be capable of lifting 50 lbs. solo and 50‑100 lbs. assisted by others.
- Standard working hours 0530 to 1500 or 0600‑1530; occasional flex hours, overtime, and periodic travel may be required.
- BS in Physics or Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- 1–3 years of experience at a minimum; more experience desired.
- Experience with flight‑test instrumentation design, programming, data collection, storage, and transmission.
- Recent experience with flight‑test instrumentation programming and validation tools desirable.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Microsoft SharePoint.
- Current driver’s license and ability to be insured under company vehicle insurance policy.
- U.S. citizenship required with eligibility for U.S. DoW Secret Security Clearance prior to hire and maintenance throughout employment.
