Precise Systems seeks a Nondestructive (NDT) Evaluation Engineer Level III to serve our NSWC Carderock customers with engineering/research design process in the area of experimental design and trade off studies.

This role requires in-person support

Duties:
  • Provide technical review and consultation to Research Development Test and Evaluation (RDT&E) activities on adequacy of specification, production processes, material availability, dimensioning and tolerance, design, producibility and inspectability, standardization and manufacturing cost control techniques.
Required

Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering discipline, Physics, or Mathematics from an accredited college or university
  • An advanced engineering degree can substitute for one (1) year of experience (e.g., Master’s degree 1 year, PhD 2 years).
Required Experience:
  • Professional knowledge of Navy and commercial Nondestructive Testing & Evaluation (NDT&E) specifications including:
    • Nondestructive Testing Methods (NAVSEA T9074-AS-GIB-010-271)
    • Nondestructive Testing Acceptance Criteria (MIL-STD-2035
    • Personnel Qualification and Certification in Nondestructive Testing (ASNT SNT-TC- 1A)
    • Nondestructive Examination Requirements (NAVSEA 250-1500-1)
    • Nondestructive Examination Requirements for Special Applications (MIL-STD- 2132)
  • Seven (7) years of experience in the concepts, practices and theories of one or more NDT&E method including visual testing, magnetic particle testing, dye penetrant testing, ultrasonic testing, radiographic testing, eddy current testing, phased array ultrasonic testing, eddy current array testing, computed tomography, computed radiography, digital detector array radiography, acoustic emission, infrared thermography, terahertz imaging, or full matrix capture
  • Two (2) years of experience with the engineering/research design process in the area of experimental design and trade off studies
Desired

Experience:
  • Candidates with Nondestructive Testing (NDT) certifications to NAVSEA T9074-AS-GIB-010/271 or American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) nondestructive testing methodologies are preferred.
  • Candidates with experience evaluating risk with nondestructive testing and evaluation decisions for nonconformance to specifications and non-standard applications of nondestructive testing methods.
  • Candidates familiar with the probability of detection (POD) methodologies in Nondestructive Evaluation System Reliability Assessment (MIL-HDBK-1823A) or similar.
  • Candidates with familiarity with modeling and simulation of NDT.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Due to the sensitivity of customer-related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required
